The Reason for controversy over "Empress Ki"

Despite the public dispute concerning a matter of opinion about ‘Distortion of History’, MBC's new drama “Empress Ki” recorded a double-digit viewer rating on its first two episodes on Monday-Tuesday timeslot.

Great start for new drama but..

From the stage production ,Drama "Empress ki" dipicting Ki Empress and king Chunghye as herioc figures created controversy among korean netizens.

King Chunghye(played by joo jin mo), portrayed as romantist of Goryeo dynasty of Korea in drama, in real history he was remembered in the Goryeosa(korean historical document) for his licentious lifestyle, particularly his habit of abducting, raping, and killing women.

He said to rape even his step mother and mother in law.

Historical interpretation of Empress Ki is another contentious issue.

Empress ki (played by ha ji won) is Gungnyeo (literally "palace women")devoted as tribute to chinese emperor from goryeo dynasty of korea.

She overcame hardship and adversity and became the empress of the Won empire ,but

based on Korean historical document of goryeo, she and her her elder brother named Gi Cheol did

all kinds of bad things to goryeo dynasty , her brother Gi Cheol (Bayan Bukha) came to threaten the position of the king of Goryeo which was a client state of the Mongols.
King Gongmin exterminated the Gi family in a coup in 1356. Upon this incident in her homeland Öljei Khutugh chose Tash Temür as the new king of Goryeo and dispatched troops to Korea. The Mongol troops were defeated by Goryeo army in crossing the Yalu River.

In these events, she provoked chinese emperor"won" to invade goryeo dynasty of korea, her native homeland.
