Chinese smartphones flop in Korea

China's smartphone makers, including Huawei,TLC are plagued by decreasing sales in Korea.
Many Chinese smartphone brands are drawing hot attention in the global market and telecommunications exhibitions, remain a low-profile in the Korean market.

Since last year, Huawei, TCL and other Chinese-made smartphones have been selling one by one in Korea, but they are still struggling against Samsung and LG.
Except for Apple, South Korea is still the grave of foreign smartphones.
When the Galaxy S8 is released next month after the G6, market share of Chinese phones will likely shrink even more.

According to market research company Atlas Research, sales of Huawei and Alcatel Mobile (TCL subsidiary) accounted for 1.9% and 1.8% respectively in the domestic smartphone market last month.
By model, Alcatel Mobile's Sol Prime (SK Telecom) 1.7 percent, Huawei's Be Y phone (KT) 0.9 percent, Huawei H Phone (LG U+) 0.6 percent, Huawei Y6 (LG U+), Alcatel Mobile's Sol(SK Telecom) 0.1%, and Huawei P9 (LGU +) 0.1%. Alcatel's Alcatel Idol (SK Telecom) and Huawei P9 Plus (LGU Plus) accounted for 0% of the market.

In particular, sales figures for Chinese mobile phones began to shrink even more this year due to the the THAAD controversy between Korea and China.
These companies, however, have no plan to release premium models in Korea. The potential is limited for them to sell their products much in Korea due to superior competitiveness of Korean-made smartphones.
