“Dae Jang Geum 2” is it worth it?

There has been many rumors about making sequal of mega-hit korean series “Dae Jang Geum"(also widely known as “Jewel in the Palace“)in the past.
Producers had wanted the sequel ready almost as soon as the mega-hit series aired in 2004. and had announced hopes to get it going in 2009. Then it was pushed to 2010, and then it was Fall 2012, and now Kim Jae Chul, the CEO of MBC
fianlly confirmed that they will be moving forward on the sequel, taking a full year to plan before launching in early 2015.
It's highly unlikely that Lee young ae would come back for this sequal because she is practically retired and now she is mother of twin.

They always make sequel for big hit hollywood blockbuster movies so there's nothing wrong with MBC's sequel plan for mega-hit drama of their own which built much of early Hallyu’s popularity abroad, and stirring global interest in Korean culture, history, society, and trends. right? That’s certainly true — the drama was exported to ninety-one countries

But Hallyu today isn’t restricted to the Full Houses and Winter Sonatas and Dae Jang Geums of old days anymore, so it seems a little bit out of date to pin such huge hopes on a ten-year-old drama which had more than 50 episodes
Nobody’s doing 50% ratings these days anymore, with Lee Young-ae or not.

It seems that MBC still have not forgottn old glory of world wide success that “Dae Jang Geum" has brought to them.
This just shows that producers of MBC are not satisfied with current situation and ran out of fresh ideas and their lack of creativity and challenge

MBC already attempted and failed at remakeing of their previous sucesss, drama "Heo Joon" ,the original’s rating was 67% and the remake went back and forth between single digits and low teens. It’s highest was 13.1%.

Many people remain skeptical about MBC's attemp to revive their old glory after 10yrs .
